Institute of Materia Medica
Institute of Materia Medica (IMM), Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences (ZAMS) was established in 1964. Through several generations of effort, IMM has become one of the largest research institutions in new drug discovery and development in Zhejiang province.
IMM consists of the following functional divisions: Department of Natural Products Chemistry, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, Departments of Normal Pharmacology, Tumor Pharmacology, Reproductive Pharmacology and Clinical pharmacology, Department of Analytical Chemistry and Department of Pharmaceutics, etc. as well as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Research in Human Reproduction, the National Pharmacologic Clinical Research Base, New Drug Research Center of Zhejiang Province of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and two master degree granting units regarding pharmacology and pharmacy. In addition, IMM was appointed as provincial key medicine subject in December 2003.
At present, there are a total of 60 in-service staff in IMM, of which, 27 staff have senior professional titles, 11 members are PH.D or PH.D candidates, and one postdoctoral researcher. In recent years, IMM has undertaken over 100 projects at the national, provincial and ministerial level. A total of over 40 achievements in scientific research have won awards. |
